Theological Scope

The biblical framework and convictions that guide our media discernment reviews.

Our Position

LionLens is broadly evangelical and orthodox Christian. We are grounded in the authority of Scripture as God's inspired Word, and our assessments reflect a biblical worldview that affirms historic Christian teaching on creation, sin, redemption, and the lordship of Christ.

We are deliberately not denominationally specific. Whether your family attends a Baptist, Presbyterian, Anglican, Pentecostal, or non-denominational church, LionLens aims to serve you with discernment resources that reflect the core convictions we share.

Guidance Labels

Every review receives one of three guidance labels. These are not content ratings - they reflect how much intentional conversation a title may warrant.

Low Concern

Content that most Christian families can enjoy without significant concern. May contain mild themes but generally aligns with or does not strongly conflict with a biblical worldview.

Talk Together

Content that contains themes, messages, or depictions worth discussing with your children. Not necessarily harmful, but intentional conversation can help children think biblically about what they see.

Parent Preview

Content that presents significant worldview tensions, mature themes, or content that many Christian families may choose to avoid or engage with only after careful consideration. Strong parental guidance is advised.

Content Marker Categories

We track content across six indicator dimensions to give families a nuanced picture:

Worldview Tension

How much the content's worldview conflicts with or challenges a biblical perspective.

Spiritual Concern

Presence of occult themes, false spiritual practices, or distorted views of God and spirituality.

Sexual Content Concern

Romantic and sexual content, immodesty, or relationship dynamics that warrant discussion.

Violence / Intensity

Level of violence, peril, frightening imagery, or emotional intensity.

Language

Profanity, crude insults, blasphemy, or repeated coarse humour that families may want to note in advance.

Discussion Opportunity

How rich the content is for meaningful family conversation about faith and values.

What LionLens Is Not

*

Not a secular content rating system - we assess from a biblical worldview, not cultural norms.

*

Not a Catholic-specific guide - while we respect Catholic families, our framework is broadly evangelical.

*

Not a legalistic filter - we do not tell families what to watch; we equip them to decide.

*

Not a substitute for parental judgment - every family is different, and parents know their children best.

*

Not a guarantee of exhaustive accuracy - we are transparent about our sources and limitations.
